Soapstone Valley Trail Evening Meditation Hike
Wednesday, June 6, 2018
Rock Creek Park
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
$7 members, $10 non-members
Level: 3, 4.0 miles
This is an introduction into meditation and provides an opportunity to communion, “With Your Inner Self” and “Unwind” from your day and hectic work week. We’ll take a peaceful walk through an area named, “Best Place in Rock Creek” and listen to the sounds of nature, silence, and your inner wisdom. Learn a simple yet powerful way to meditate by “walking with your self” through silence. Let this experience with nature invigorate your mind, body, and spirit.
The trail descends to a riffling creek, a tributary of Broad Branch that looks positively unpolluted in the right light. The trail follows the creek for a bit and then you cross it by hopping the stones (probably granite, since most of the actual soapstone was quarried out some time ago). You’ll crisscross the creek several times as the valley grows deeper, greener, and more dense. The trail ends at Broad Branch Road after a mile-and-a-half.
The walk includes: – A Pre-walk “Intro to Meditation” to prepare you for the
walk with suggested mediation techniques to use – Walking in silence along the paths – A Post-walk reflection and time for sharing
Registration Deadline: Sunday, June 3, 2018
