Maryland AT Section Furry Friendly Backpacking Trip
Saturday-Sunday, April 1-2, 2017
Boonesboro, MD
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
$20 members, $30 non-members
Level: 5, 6.0 miles, Beginner and above.

This is an out and back trip on the AT on South Mountain in western Maryland. We will ascend the trail towards Weverton Cliffs which is probably the most difficult section of the trip with a long series of switchbacks, but the superb views of the Potomac River and surrounding area is the reward for this strenuous climb. This is followed by a relatively easy ridgetop trail segment as we follow the spur trail towards the Ed Garvey Shelter. We will spend one night at a campsite on the AT near the shelter, returning along the same route the next day.

Gear sharing, meal planning, carpooling and all other details will be worked out by email the week before the trip.

WWO has a limited amount of backpack equipment to lend as a member benefit.

Your friendly dog is invited on this weekend trip, Saturday through Sunday.

Registration Deadline: Wednesday, March 22, 2017
